OpenInkpot 0.3 Troubleshooting Guide
V3 is bricked or looks like bricked
Don't worry, it should be easy to unbrick it.
If device does not react to any keys, power button or reset, do the following things:
- Detach USB cable
- Unscrew battery compartment and take out battery
Device should be off now: no LEDs flashing, static screen.
- Remove SD card
- Attach USB charger or USB cable connected to PC
- Press and hold '+' button
- Press 'Power' button
- Wait for sound signal (~1 sec after 'Power' button)
- Release '+' button
You should get a chinglish bootloader menu on screen (in ugly font). Reboot device and see whether it works. If it does not, install firmware again.
V3 locks up frequently
There are rumours that some batteries shipped with devices are faulty and cause frequent lockups. Replacing them might help (bigger battery capacity is also nice).
Compatible batteries:
- Nokia BL-4C (720 mAh)
- Nokia BL-5C (1020 mAh, a bit thicker than battery compartment)
- Neo 1973 or Neo Freerunner battery (1200 mAh, much thicker than battery compartment, better just remove the cover)
V3 is stuck after reboot
If your device works only until first reboot, then you've downloaded and installed wrong version of firmware (v3 instead of v3ext or vice versa).
